Anyone having a valid account on the Delhi High Court’s e-filing portal can also now conduct an online e-inspection of case files on Delhi High Court’s Website in a digitized manner by filing an application after logging in and paying the court fees.
Here are the steps to be taken to file e-inspection application on the portal of Delhi High Court:
Step 1. Open the link of e-inspection portal on Delhi High Court’s website
Either directly click on this link http://dhccaseinfo.nic.in/inspection to access the e-inspection portal, or
Go to the home page of Delhi High Court at https://delhihighcourt.nic.in, and then click on ‘Online Service’ in the middle section of the page. See this screenshot for ease of convenience:
Once you click on ‘Online Service’, you’ll be taken to the page of online service, here click on the link for ‘Online E-inspection Portal’:
Step 2. Login through the same credentials of e-filing Portal
Once you visit http://dhccaseinfo.nic.in/inspection/, you’ll see the below-mentioned page:
Step 2.1. If you are an advocate or litigant who has already registered your mobile phone number on the Delhi High Court’s e-filing portal and have an active account there, can also log into the e-inspection portal using the same credentials. There is no need to re-register on the e-inspection portal again.
To do this, please enter your registered mobile number and verify it using a One Time Password (OTP) sent to both your mobile phone and email address, just like you do on the e-filing portal.
OR
Step 2.1. If you are not having any account on the Delhi High Court’s e-filing portal, then you will have to first get yourself registered there and then you can access the e-inspection portal of the Delhi High Court. To register on the Delhi High Court’s e-filing portal, please visit https://dhcefiling.nic.in/eFiling/GetRegistration.do.
Step 3. Enter the OTP received both on your mobile number as well as e-mail
Once you put in your phone number and enter the captcha, you’ll visit the screen which looks like this:
Here, put the OTP received on your mobile number in the blank space in front of ‘SMS OTP’. Then check your email for another OTP. Put this OTP in ‘E-MAIL OTP’.
I know, this is a blessing in disguise ☹
Step 4. Enter the Case Details
Once you successfully login into the e-inspection portal, select and enter the case details such as ‘Case Type’, ‘Case Number’ and ‘Year’.
Please note that you should be an Advocate representing either the Plaintiff/Petitioner/Appellant or the Defendant/Respondent in the case which you want to e-inspect i.e. you should have your name in the Vakalatnama as an Advocate.
Step 5. Enter Counsel or Party Details
For Advocates:
- Enter ‘PLAINTIFF’ if you are representing a Plaintiff, or ‘DEFENDANT’ if you are representing a Defendant in an Original Suit. If you are representing more than one Plaintiffs or Defendants where there are multiple parties, specify the Number of the Plaintiff or Defendant you are representing.
- For instance, if you are representing Defendant No. 3, write ‘DEFENDANT NO. 3’. If you are representing Defendant No. 4 and 6, write ‘DEFENDANT NO. 4 AND 6’, and if you are representing all the Defendants, write ‘DEFENDANTS’.
- Enter ‘PETITIONER’ if you are representing a Petitioner in any Petition, or ‘APPELLANT’ if you are representing the Appellant in any Appeal, or ‘RESPONDENT’ if you are representing a Respondent in any Petition/Appeal. If you are representing more than one party, then specify by numbering the party accordingly (similar to the example provided above).
For Party:
Confirm from your Advocate about your status as a party i.e. ask the Advocate that who you are in the case (whether the Plaintiff or Defendant or Petitioner or Appellant or Respondent), and fill the blank accordingly.
Step 6. Pay the 5 Rupees Court Fees
If you already have a Court Fees worth 5 Rupees (example, DLCTXXXXXXXXX), then put the said number directly by click on ‘Yes’.
If you are not having a Court Fees of 5 Rupees, then you’ll have to buy it either from the E-Courts Portal Fees (https://pay.ecourts.gov.in/epay) (Easy Method), or from the website of Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (https://www.shcilestamp.com/estamp_CFS_home.html) (Difficult Method).
Step 7. Click on Submit and wait for scrutiny
Once you have filled in every other details, finally click on the ‘SUBMIT’ button to submit the e-inspection Application.
The Delhi High Court’s Inspection Branch will scrutinize your application. If everything is in order, you will receive the link after three (3) to four (4) working days to download the PDF file of Digitized Judicial File of your case updated upto the last date of hearing. To access the the said PDF, you will have to enter the OTP/password received on your registered mobile phone number. The link to download the PDF file containing of Digitized Judicial File of your case will remain active for five (5) days only.
If there is any objection, you will receive the notification on your email and the e-inspection portal. Then you’ll have to re-file the e-inspection application and wait for another 3 to 4 days.
Although this whole process seems long and tedious, however, it is much efficient and easy compared to the physical inspection.
